Let's Talk About Change.

I don’t know about you but I hate change. I like new opportunities and a mixture of different things yet I get anxious and worked up when something changes e.g here in the UK we’ve had lots of snow and now it’s beginning to melt, as much as I don’t love freezing to death, I’ve adapted and going out into the cold has just become part of my routine (although it’s only lasted a few days). ANYWAY, even though it lasted for such a short period of time, the thought of having normal weather again makes me anxious, because it’s change.

Change is a normal part of life’s cycle despite it sometimes being very difficult for us to deal with. If this change is difficult for you, at times, it can help to question why it’s difficult and figure out why, other times it’s not as simple as that and that’s okay.

We tend to fear the unknown rather than fear itself for we can’t predict or control what’s to come or what’s changing currently. Change also conjures feelings of discomfort and the feeling of being out of control for obvious reasons.

As much as I wish they didn’t exist, loss, grief and pain are a part of life and help us to grow as people even though, of course, it isn’t what we want. This can lead us to believe that life is unfair and cruel, which it can be now and again, but what’s important is to try your best to see the positives in the situation.

Despite wanting to, try not to ignore what’s changing because it only makes it more difficult to eventually accept it. Acceptance helps us to move forward with our lives, acceptance doesn’t mean forgetting remember.

This brings me to the next point, however this change is making you feel, don’t stop it from coming, feel whatever emotions come when they need to. You’re allowed to feel however it is that you feel in that moment in time.

What’s also important to note here is to know that you can reach out and seek advice when you want or need to.

If it’s personal change, know that it’s happening for a reason. Don’t get frustrated for not knowing why. You’ll find out at the right time, when you’re suppose to.

Change means new beginnings and opportunities whether it’s a new job, a new house, your morals changing, whatever it is, it’s going to bring you all kind of different things. Some good and some bad, but both to help you along the way.

Change helps us move on from where and who we are to where and who we want to be deep down. As much as I love life in my comfort zone where it’s nice and cosy and I can predict most things, I don’t grow or develop there. Although it takes much convincing (for myself), it’s definitely better to live outside of our comfort zones than to to live in regret.

“You don’t fear change. You fear the unknown. If you knew the future would be great, you’d welcome the change to get there. Well the future IS great. Proceed.”- Joe Vitale.
