‘You’re just too sensitive’. If I’d been paid for every time someone said that to me..
Why is being sensitive a blessing rather than a curse?
– We are able to empathise with people.
– We are sensitive to other people’s feelings and needs and so we are good listeners.
– We’re able to love and feel deeply.
– We care about how our actions and words make other’s feel.
I want to make it clear that I am NOT in any way saying being the opposite to sensitive means you aren’t a good human being or anything else. I’m simply writing this for the people with sensitive souls who’ve been led to believe it’s something they need to “grow out of”.
Whoever you are, as long as you’re doing good things and not harming others, that’s all that matters. You deserve to fully accept and love yourself for who you are.
There is nothing wrong with thinking, and loving deeply and being open to your emotions. Everybody deals with life through their own ways and traits.
Being sensitive doesn’t make you weak or immature. Sensitivity varies on everyone. Some people are more sensitive than others – aka me who once cried for 10 minutes because I’d gotten in the way of a blue flashing ambulance for literally a few seconds!! Anyway, whether you’re highly sensitive, not very or not at all, there is nothing wrong with that.
I feel like there’s a lot of stigma when it comes to males having sensitive traits and it really needs to stop. Being a man and having a sensitive soul doesn’t make you less of a “man” or any of that B.S.
If you prefer not to share or show your feelings and emotions to others, that’s okay. What’s not okay is letting people make you feel like you have to act a certain way because of their opinion.
Us sensitive souls do tend to get overwhelmed quite easily which causes emotions to fly everywhere which is hard to sometimes predict or control.
Stop beating yourself up about it. The more you try to control your emotions, the harder and more impossible it becomes to control.
‘Accept how you feel when you feel it – don’t try to fight it.’
Whilst feeling everything so very deeply can feel exhausting, it also makes us more passionate, thoughtful and kinder and that is very beautiful.
The fact that we feel so deeply enables us to care about situations and people.
‘Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive. Both men and women should feel free to be strong’ – Emma Watson.
