This Is How To Slowly Teach Yourself To Not Give a Damn

Shut yourself off emotionally? Put a barrier up? Isolate yourself from everyone and pretend to be happy on your own?

Not giving a damn means you are truly comfortable with these 3 things – who you are, your values, your views and beliefs.

I definitely used to believe that not giving a damn meant, doing whatever I wanted, saying whatever I wanted and doing things that I, in fact, didn’t want to do deep down.

When I say ‘not give a damn’, I mean to be happy with who you are, to love who you are and to basically not let other people’s views and opinions affect your life negatively. Not giving a damn doesn’t mean you’re entitled to hurt others and not care about it.

It’s a fact of life that we aren’t going to get on with every single human being we meet in our lives and vice versa. We can’t spend our lives worrying about what others think of us, because those that think negatively of us really have no relevance in our lives.

If being yourself means losing a few people – as long as it isn’t harmful – then so be it. You’ll meet many more people and many more people in your lifetime! Your happiness means so much more than anything else.

As I’ve said before, as far as we know for certain, this is all we get. Let’s use this time to do what matters to us because THAT is our true purpose in life. Yes a minority may disagree with what you do, but that minority is insignificant to the majority who love and accept you for who you are and what you do.

It’s important to have a detox from social media every now and then. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to everyone else who appears to be leading a perfect and happy life with no worries or troubles. REMEMBER – people choose what parts of their lives they show. Not everything is as it seems.

Learning to not care about the people intent on bringing me down and the people who purely hate out of jealousy, has honestly set me free. I feel SO much happier and accepting of myself – even when I mess up (which is often).

The truth is, everyone is going to have an opinion. Everybody is going to believe different things as do you and it’s all okay. Why waste your energy on worrying yourself sick about what others MAY think?

The world is such a big place, and we all deserve to be happy and content without stressing about others and what they’ll think of us. It’s time that we all lived for ourselves, dressed up for ourselves and smiled for ourselves and not just for others. Do it for you and THEN for the rest of the world.

Learning to be myself is the best feeling in the world. I have my faults and insecurities and that’s okay and the same goes for you too!!

Ciao for now x
