Rejection and Why It's Essential?

Rejection is one of the harshest aspects of life. It’s more often than not a very painful experience for us. That pain is also a harsh but good reminder of that thing that we deem important. How badly do we want it is the question.

Rejection is something that each and every one of us believe has only happened to ourselves because we see ourselves filled with flaws whilst viewing everyone else around us as perfect people who’ve never made a mistake in their life, therefore, are NEVER rejected.

The truth is, rejection is something that all of us experience in some shape or form, whether it’s a job, a college/university or a person. We ALL experience it, because shockingly, nobody is perfect!

Rejection can keep us in a place that we’d possibly rather not be but this happens for a reason, yes to make you suffer, but to suffer and then learn and grow so much more because of it. I read a quote the other day that said “if you don’t suffer, you don’t grow”. I think it’s brilliant.

It also keeps our minds thinking realistically, however, don’t let that thinking make you believe that your goals are out of reach. The realistic bit, is that we don’t always get what we want instantly. Sometimes we have to fight (not physically okay!!).

Rejection off people can also be difficult and can set us back hugely if we let it, especially when they’re people we care deeply about. The way I try and remember to look at it is that they simply aren’t meant to be in my life, at least for that current period in my life, it doesn’t mean they’ll never come back.

What’s important is how are those people affecting the way you live your life? Would you rather be surrounded by those people and not be yourself or be free to be whoever you are and want to be but not have those same people in your life?

We aren’t here to please anybody else or live up to someone else’s expectations.

Life is life, sometimes it’s wonderful and sometimes it’s difficult, it doesn’t always go our way, there’ll be failures, disappointments and rejections BUT it’s all about taking those negatives, feel crap for a few hours. Then use that negativity to motivate and push yourself to chase after and work hard for whatever it is.

Rejection is NOT a reflection of ourselves. The greatest of the great have experienced many kinds of rejection including, Oprah Winfrey, J.K Rowling, Walt Disney and so many more.

Think about it, if everything were to always go our way, we’d be in constant fear of losing our luck! What kind of living would that be?

Honestly, I hate rejection, I really do. It can make you feel so worthless and like you’re never going to succeed. I constantly find myself taking it personal and ending up giving up.

So, it’s important to remember WHY rejection happens to us – to teach us, to help us grow, and to gain experience. Your goals and aspirations ARE in your reach, I promise.

‘The only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire’ – Oprah Winfrey.
